I harvested my first pumpkin today...Yes, in June. Obviously, I timed that wrong, but oh well. So long as its tasty, it doesnt matter. I've enjoyed the foilage for months now, and its put up a pretty good fight against the scorching heat. My zucchinis succumbed by wednesd… Continue

garden plans

Lots of new beds being created in the yard right now. Trying to get them complete before the furnace kicks on (the desert summer.) Bryan helped me create another bed in front of the three sisters. I planted a butterfly bush on the end of this new bed by the walkway near the potager entrance. As with all gardens, this garden has been all about the soil. Only 299 more to find!

Look who I found! A beautiful little friend! Last october there was a very large brown preying mantis on my pool fence. I had hoped it was female and that she would lay her egg sac in my yard. I read that the typical egg sac contains 300 preying mantis, however, the first… Continue

Hi Casey, thank you for the comment back on the seeds. If you can spare a couple I would greatly appreciate it. I can take my chances with the seeds you collected from your pumpkins if you would rather hold on to the seed swapped ones. here is my addy:

If it is easier for me to pick them I could do that too. Just let me know and again Thank you!

Hi Casey. I just wanted to drop you a line and mention how nice it was to meet you at the book club meeting this morning. I enjoyed the group conversation so much, and can't wait for the next gathering!

Hi, Casey. It was great to meet you today. How interesting we lived right there in the same neighboorhood in Cutler Ridge. I am enjoying learning about everything there is to know about growning food and living out here in the desert. I look forward to seeing you again soon. Let me know if your husband would be interested in a biking buddy. :)
