Event Description

Spring 2010 Permaculture Design Course - 72 Hr Certification Course - Weekend 1
Saturday, January 30th from 8am to 5:30pm

Become a Certified Permaculture Designer.
What is Permaculture? Permaculture is a way of thinking as well as a system of organizing intelligent ecological and ethical design. It does not focus on the elements of sustainability in themselves such as details of organic living, eco-building, appropriate technology, community building, green finance, or rainwater harvesting. Instead the focus is on the beneficial relationships between these elements and how they are combined to make them as energy efficient and sustaining as possible, for people, the planet and our ecosystem.

From the course you will build an understanding of holistic sustainable design that you can apply to your own space as well as the community. Students will be required to complete the 72 hours of in-class instruction, course enhancing homework, and 12 hours of hands-on instruction. Some classes will be intense, others relaxed, but all will be rewarding, just ask a previous student!

For more info contact the Course Facilitator Don Titmus fdpc@4dirs.com

Wow! Thanks for that info Chris. Sounds like 2 hens would be plenty for us but then maybe they'd be lonely? I'm not sure if I can make the class tomorrow as I'm busy setting up for my Monarch Garden Box booth at the Thieve's Market in Cave Creek t...

Does anyone have a Texas Olive tree in their yard? I'm looking for some seeds and also wondering how difficult they are to get started. I love a challenge and also love the look of this tree. I would also be interested in finding a nursery that of...

No, I don't seal the wood at all. Redwood is naturally resistant to rot, mold, mildew and fungus. It also weathers to a beautiful golden tone. My plants seem to be very happy living in their own little redwood forest and I'm happy to know we're he...

I guess it depends on the size of your fruit trees. I planted dwarf trees and put scalloped edgers (scalloped side down, I hate the scallops) in a 4' sq. then put 6" x 12" pavers around the outside of those allowing my husband to mow right up to t...

Wow, that looks great. I have a planter similar to that by my back block wall but the crazy long grass along the alley behind it got through the cracks in the foundation, I guess, and took it over. That is another project for this winter. Remove a...
