I won't go into a lot of detail because I don't want to abuse your group with an ad for my business. Please visit my website for another way to keep those critters out of a garden! www.monarchgardenbox.com
Hi Denise,
I hadn't thought about bringing the Artic Blast outside. Thanks, great idea. Also, I ran out of my first container, so I've been adding the ingredients listed on the side of the container (just guessing at quantities) and my own concoctio…
Hi Nancy,
I bought some too at Whole Foods. So far it seems to be working on my aphids. If only the dang leafhoppers would hold still I'd blast them as well :-D

Great to meet members of our Permie group last night at Greg Peterson's Fruit Tree talk at C4 in Cave Creek! We had a total of 11 gardeners in the class. I mentioned a natural glass cleaner that I had purchased at the Downtown Phoenix Farmer's Marke…
This evening I had a chance to see the fruit trees that my friend, Theresa Rigney planted last year from the PPG's fruit tree program. What beauties! The peach trees are very full and about 7 feet tall; apples are about 5 feet and also beautiful. I'…
I've been searching for a way to actually GET vegetables from my garden. Have been sharing too much with the rodents! I live 1/4 mile s. of Carefree Hwy. in the middle of ground squirrel land. So I decided to tour some nearby successful gardens: the…

We have a lot of the same goals. It does take a lot of planning and money. My husband and I haven't minded putting our extra money into these projects because we believe in them.
Love your picture. Our black lab's name is Kong. We have a yellow lab and 2 bloodhounds. We also raise our own beef and chickens and 2 goat - those guys are pets though.
We drive one hybrid, and have a solar electricity. Can't wait til we can get our batteries for it.
Anyhow I thought I would introduce myself a bit. Always looking to make some new friends. Sometimes it seems like it can get a bit lonely up north here.
I'm sorry you won't be able to make it for the Affordable Sustainability workshop. However, thank you so much for being so curteous and cancelling so someone else could take your spot!
Jennifer,
Please sign me up for 'Designing a Vegetable Garden - Part 2 with Heather Welch on July 19 at 8:30 and Intro to Permaculture with Don Titmus at 10:30. Thanks for the info on the Permaculture Certification course. So glad to be a member of the Guild!
Nancy
Welcome Nancy! Hopefully we can help you out with those goals! You may want to consider taking the "intro to Permaculture" class next sat as Permaculture works with "systems" to put everything in proper relation to the other "systems". What components you use is based upon your climatic zone (hot, arid for us). There is also a 72 hour Permaculture Design Course starting Sept 6th. This is the standard intro Permaculture Certification course that's taught all over the world. See the Education tab on this site for more info.

About Me:
In 5 years I expect to be driving an electric car, powering my home and car with the sun and growing my own organic fruits and vegetables using harvested rainwater, greywater and home grown compost. I need to do a lot of learning to reach my goal! My sustainable living accomplishments so far: planted 15 low water use trees; switched from plastic to canvas bags; reduced my gasoline use by 50% by carpooling to work with a friend; reduced my electricity use by 35% over the past 4 years by making many, many small changes; made my own rainbarrel which collects rainwater from my roof; made my own twirling composter; recycle plastic 1 - 7, paper, cans and reduce, reuse, repurpose every chance I get. Next project: shade the air conditioning unit.
Lylah - likewise to you and Michael - I feel connected through our tweets and on this site - one day we will meet in a class! Another hands-on Herb Planting class is coming in 2010!
Happy holidays and a peace-filled new year to all.
Doreen
