We have only recently moved into our current place and I am between chickens at this time. There is an old metal shed and some old pool fence on the property I am going to use as part of my chicken house so when I get it done I will post some pictures. Hopefully will have something to show in the next month of too, it is a large property and has much needed to do. Chickens do not care too much about what it looks like, just needs to be secure for them at night.
For the goads I would try to rake up as much of them as I could, you might even consider renting a power rake and going over them a couple of times. Seems like the plant breaks off fairly easy. If they are the ones I think they are, it should not be too hard to control them once you have the major amount removed.
As for the round up it binds to the soil and breaks down after about 6-months, not much needs to be done for it on a practical basis if it hasn't been recently sprayed.

Hmm Lorum ipsum on the legal page. Thanks for your sharp eyes and good comments Chris. I think everyone on this forum is pro-green energy, but this just seems like spam.

Will this area get full sun in spring and summer from sunrise til 11am? If so you should be able to grow pretty much whatever you want as most vegs will do well with 5 or 6 hours of sun and will appreciate the afternoon shade. As for what to plant...

If you make smoothies figs are great for these. I freeze whole figs in zipper bags, take out however many you plan to use and let them thaw just enough to quarter them and use in place of ice in your smoothie. Good mixed with frozen bananas.

Coffe grounds are great too and I do use mine in the garden and have gotten some from Starbucks but they must be pretty popular as I usually miss out on them. Thanks Mark.
