Trouble Lurks in the Garden

No picture today with this post because I don't want to gross you out - my swollen, red left foot is the reason for this note.

First - I have already been chastised by my fellow gardener friends. Seems like the guys had less sympathy and did more scolding than the woman.

Second - I feel a little foolish even sharing this with you. I mean, come-on, I am a PROFESSIONAL (aren't I?). But if I don't share this with you, there is a good chance this could happen to you!

So here goes - I stepped on a… Continue

Three Sisters - Monsoon Gardens

Sustainers of Life

In a Three Sisters planting, the three partners benefit one another. Corn provides support for beans. Beans, like other legumes, have bacteria living on their roots that help them absorb nitrogen from the air and convert it to a form that plants can use. (… Continue

Hello Doreen,

I'm one of the PDC students that contacted you a while back about volunteering for the Greenbuild conference in some capacity, and I was wondering if you'd heard more about it since then? In the meantime, I'm a new volunteer at Desert Botanical Gardens and had the good luck to get signed up as your instructor aide for the class on Sunday. See you then and if there is absolutely anything I can do to help prepare for the class please let me know.

Thanks,
Jaime

Hi Doreen,

Is there a way to get the handout materials from your "Garden Planning" class? I can't make it tonight, but would love to have the material. I already have the planting calendar, but am very interested in the seed sources, companion planting, and design tips.

I would be happy to make a donation to PPG in exchange! :)
