Looking for people willing to let us take some cuttings off of fig trees and grapevines. The variety does not matter, just looking for people willing to allow trimming some pieces to see if I can generate some new plants from cuttings.

oh Chris..glad to hear your daughter's alright, though it must be a very difficult time for you. Sorry to hear about Violet, but I think you're right, maybe the universe made a trade? I'm sure Violet would be very happy with the outcome, and thrilled with continuing to give you joy I often wonder if our pets are here to help us remember just how short life is, and to remind us to look for the joy that's available, every day....
I lost my cat of 18 years last week-end, fortunately I was able to hold him in my lap outside in the sunshine and say goodbye as well...Too bad we're not as able to deal with our own passing when the time comes..
Take care of yourself and your family...Thanks for including me in your friends list.
Cheers,
MARY

Thanks Chris...It's a pic of the herd that comes through the 'yard' regularly...I use the term yard loosely, as they eat almost anything new that I introduce, so I stopped introducing..I like having em come through, so it more than makes up for the lack of new plant material..Cheers, MARY..and who's the noble looking wild animal in your pic?

Hey Chris....Michael and I sure appreciate all your advice. Question: how many chickens do you have and what's your housing look like?

Also - we're moving to a new property - very excited about the new clean slate, if you will. Second question: the place where we'll garden first had those sticker bushes - loads of goads - dry ones even now. For years round up had been sprayed on the land too. When we walk on the property end up with the goads in shoes. We'd love some suggestions as to what to do with that first. We'll also used raised beds like we have where we currently live.

Thanks! lylah

Hi Chris,
We got our bamboo for the chicken coop from our neighbor's yard. They have a huge stand and have been very gracious to share the mature culms with us. We also repaired a part of our fence with some of the bamboo by wiring it up to the cross beams. We have lots more plans to use bamboo around the yard in the future!

Hi Chris!
Thank you for your thoughtful, thorough and supportive answers to my weevils question. I deeply appreciate that you took time to help. I think I averted disaster and I am trying to figure out how to reach the feed producer, which I thought I would just find online.

I'm sorry you lost your dear Violet. We lost our Shepherd mix Apollo 3 years ago... and bought our very first food producing plant, a lemon tree to remember him.

Welcome to the guild!

-Monica

I get those too. I think they're cabbage loopers. Other than picking them off by hand, I'm had also been spraying the leave with bT. My latest strategy is to spread out some diatomaceous earth atop the soil and plants. Hoping that will help.
