Thanks, Chris.
So, I found this great website (http://ag.arizona.edu/pubs/garden/mg/index.html) and it has a whole index of plants and their years of seed viability. Most of my seeds still fall in the good range, so I guess I'm gonna have to attribu…
I'm working on it, Chris. We don't have 100 SF just yet, but a reasonable sized plot for a family of three. We currently have sprouts and fairly well-developed parsley, cilantro, radishes, chives, lettuce, spinach, nasturtians, kale, potatoes, carro…

Chris - my neighbor has a fig tree that hangs over the wall and we have Thompson seedless grapes. They did better before our neighbor put in the block wall, but the plants are old and well established. Let us know if you want to come by...
Bummer about the grape vine. :(
And I wonder why the lot was so wet. Is it still getting irrigated?

I lost my cat of 18 years last week-end, fortunately I was able to hold him in my lap outside in the sunshine and say goodbye as well...Too bad we're not as able to deal with our own passing when the time comes..
Take care of yourself and your family...Thanks for including me in your friends list.
Cheers,
MARY
Thanks Chris...It's a pic of the herd that comes through the 'yard' regularly...I use the term yard loosely, as they eat almost anything new that I introduce, so I stopped introducing..I like having em come through, so it more than makes up for the lack of new plant material..Cheers, MARY..and who's the noble looking wild animal in your pic?
very helpful. Thanks! i'm posting pics of our present garden yard and will post the blank sheet pics - hoping to invite some creative ideas from this guild - great group of folks here.
Hey Chris....Michael and I sure appreciate all your advice. Question: how many chickens do you have and what's your housing look like?
Also - we're moving to a new property - very excited about the new clean slate, if you will. Second question: the place where we'll garden first had those sticker bushes - loads of goads - dry ones even now. For years round up had been sprayed on the land too. When we walk on the property end up with the goads in shoes. We'd love some suggestions as to what to do with that first. We'll also used raised beds like we have where we currently live.
Hi Chris,
We got our bamboo for the chicken coop from our neighbor's yard. They have a huge stand and have been very gracious to share the mature culms with us. We also repaired a part of our fence with some of the bamboo by wiring it up to the cross beams. We have lots more plans to use bamboo around the yard in the future!
This time of year, it's easy to drive around ABQ and find bagged leaves waiting for disposal by the city, at least that was the case a few years back. You only have another week or two to collect them before they're gone for another year ....
I really thought this was clever too! I would think that Craig's List would have many of these listed pretty cheap. I believe that they had 3 chickens, but this setup could handle quite a bit more, and it looks so darn cute!
She can dump out the bin in an area where she would like to create a new garden bed, preferably in a sunny location. Cover it with a black plastic bag or any other medium which will absorb the heat. Piling LOTS more leaves on top and saturating ever…
