I'm devouring June's issue of Phoenix Home & Garden - and reviewing the Garden Checklist. Cathy Cromell (Master Gardner) says to "transplant sweet potatoes."

I'm totally dying...our family LOVES them...where in the world do I get sweet potatoes to transplant?

Thanks!

I have no idea if we did it the right way. It is confusing trying to research it. What we did was put the whole potato in water and then after the stems grew out pretty far we planted the cuttings in dirt and after they were rooted planted in the ground.

Also had so many we finally just planted the whole rooted and sprouted potatoes in teh ground. These have grown the best.

Here are some pictures of ours. One picture is under a citrus tree where they have grown the best. They are mixed in with Widelia. There is one whole potato planted there and some slips.
Then there is another plant this one was a whole rooted potato.
Then there is a picture of osme we planted around the same time that haventhegrown as much.
