When we make the final shift to the Cactus Rd. Farm I'll be getting some dairy goats. We're evaluating how many Nubians to acquire.
In that - we're wondering what the interest in fresh, raw goats milk from goats might be. Our goats will be free of CL (Caseous Lymphadenitis)) and CAE (Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis) and from healthy stock.

Oh, how exciting! I keep kicking around the idea of raw goats milk at least for cheese if not for drinking. Don't know if I could get my husband or the 2 young men to do it though.
I'm delighted with the response! Thanks! We'll be near Cactus and the 101 - Anne - I think that's near your place. I will make an announcement to visit our place as soon as it's all up and running AND when I have my dairy goats.
Years ago I used to raise a small herd of goats - and sold my extra raw milk that I didn't use for cheese or yogurt. I can still remember the lasagna that I'd made with the goats cheese - YUM! I will notify the PPC org when my raw milk is available.
Anne, I have the book "cheesemaking at home" plus supplies from Ricki the Cheese Queen. I'd be happy to share both with you. Perhaps we can work out a goat milk and/or cheese-to-eggs exchange! :^)
So cool! I am very interested, but unfortunately, Cactus and the 101 is pretty far from me. I will give it a try (so please count me in), but at this point, I don't know how regularly I can make the trip. Just an idea, would you consider trying to sell some at the community table at the Downtown Farmers Market?
This is very exciting! Please keep us posted, and again, count me in!

Thanks Chris, I do work manure into the beds before planting, I have winter squash that are looking pretty yellowish, guess some fish emulsion may help, I don't have a supply of dead fish on hand. I'd probably have the dog trying to dig them up an...
Kristi, I do use fish emulsion and it is kind of pricey but does seem helpful and I just made my first batch of aerated compost tea and am planning to try to keep some of that going too and see how that does. Don't have a lot of compost right now ...
I sure like using the bottled fish emulsion and mixing with water. I guess it's not the most economical but mine sure lasts a long time plus you can use it with flowers, veges and just about everything.
I generally don't fertilize veges as when p...
Thanks Alice. This looks very interesting. It seems like it's the same concept as making pickles and other fermented veges. I think I'm going to try it!
I was just having fun in the post title. So many people do not like beets so I thought it would be fun to see who does. Easy to grow in the fall and winter season out here not to mention being delicious!
