In this hands-on workshop, we will explore the myriad of methods for backyard composting, worm composting, types of compost bins, as well as the ins and outs of how to reduce and/or eliminate yard waste and turn it into wonderfully rich, free compost for your garden. Vynnie the Gardener will share his secrets to a sustainable, organic, self-fertilizing garden which all starts from the ground up, compost being the key. This workshop is ideal for apartment dwellers, homeowners, beetles, worms, beginning gardeners, and seasoned green thumbs.

There is another Compost Class at the Tempe REI July 29, 2009.

I have signed up for the 7/8 composting class at Drip but now have to cancel my reservation for the course; how do I do so, please? I want to make room for another in this over-subscribed class. Sorry to miss the learning this time; thanks for making this available!

Thanks for the heads up....Even tho there is a class in Tempe, I didn't want to wait that long! :) I sort of save some veg. and coffee grounds and egg shells, but I want to learn the right way and the right combination of ingredients....I am excited to go! See you all Wed.

The previous class we had 25 people signed up and only 18 attended. So, we let the RSVP go a little longer. Please come early to assure a seat. RSVPs will get be allowed into the class, then walk-ins if space allows. Please note there is another Compost class at Tempe REI. Thank you, Web Admin.

Patty, bring your husband. This past week over 8 people never showed up, so you should be ok. We are closing this class as full on Friday 7/3.

I noticed the class size limit is 20 people, and the attending list is 29.......?? Does this mean I can't bring my husband? I just signed up yesterday.....does He have to become a member also in order to take classes? TIA

This time of year, it's easy to drive around ABQ and find bagged leaves waiting for disposal by the city, at least that was the case a few years back. You only have another week or two to collect them before they're gone for another year ....

I really thought this was clever too! I would think that Craig's List would have many of these listed pretty cheap. I believe that they had 3 chickens, but this setup could handle quite a bit more, and it looks so darn cute!

She can dump out the bin in an area where she would like to create a new garden bed, preferably in a sunny location. Cover it with a black plastic bag or any other medium which will absorb the heat. Piling LOTS more leaves on top and saturating ever…
